David Patchell-Evans Founder and CEO, GoodLife Fitness Clubs
As the founder and CEO of 147 fitness clubs stretching from British
Columbia to Newfoundland and well over 400,000 members, Patch credits his company’s
success to a staff focused on peak attitude and their commitment to the members
they serve.
GoodLife
has a host of awards to its credit including being selected as a winner of Canada’s
50 Best Managed Companies in 2003, 2004 and 2005 and the consecutive winner
of the Consumers Choice Award for Toronto and Ottawa since 2001.
The ultimate entrepreneur, Patch has a goal of reaching 200 clubs by the year 2009.
Patch is a respected international speaker. He has lectured in Germany, England,
Australia, Spain and extensively in North America. He holds an Honours Degree
in Physical Education from the University of Western Ontario where he was accorded
the honour of two consecutive appointments as Adjunct Assistant Professor with the
School of Kinesiology, Faculty of Health Sciences. Patch is also a five-time
Canadian Rowing Champion.

- Patch Honorary Chair for Easter Seals in capital campaign to build one of two-year
round camps for disabled children in Canada
2005
- Patch on cover of Canadian Business magazine Most Innovative CEO
of the Year in Canada
- Patch rappels 16 stories down a building in downtown Toronto raising over $10,000
for Easter Seals and accepts a position as Honorary Chair, Camp Woodeden in Killworth
- Patch presented with the Alumni Award of Merit, University of Western

2004
- Youngest person inducted into the JA Business Hall of Fame, London,
ON
- First person awarded the Life Saving Award by OPP Marine Division
& Canadian Power Squadron for rescuing a mother and child seriously at risk
– summer 2004
Patch's top selling book, Living the Good Life, has now exceeded
600,000 copies in distribution and is additionally available in a French-launguage
version for the Quebec market under the title Vivez Pleinement Votre Vie.
In April 2006, Living the Good Life launched in audiobook format with successful
sales throughout North America.
In March 2006 Patch was appointed to the IHRSA Board of Directors, one of the highest
honours in the fitness industry worldwide. IHRSA (International Health, Racquet
and Sportsclub Association) represents 6,500 fitness clubs in over 67 countries.
Recognized as Canada's most successful fitness entrepreneur, and a self-made multi-millionaire,
